The July 30 2019 episode of WWE SmackDown Live is taking place later this evening.
The following “quick hits” are advertised to be included in tonight’s show:
1. The King’s Court Returns to SmackDown
Jerry “The King” Lawler will be making a special appearance on SmackDown Live tonight for a 2019 edition of his talk show, The King’s Court. To add an extra layer of excitement, his guest for the evening will be none other than the legendary seven-time women’s champion Trish Stratus.
Fans have been speculating for weeks that Trish Stratus is coming to challenge Charlotte Flair, as The Queen gave an impassioned speech about being opponent-less for Summerslam, but that she wouldn’t be fighting just anyone, because she would accept nothing but the best possible competition. We may just find out whether or not these rumors have any truth to them tonight.
2. Finn Bálor Challenges Dolph Ziggler
It seems Dolph Ziggler angered more than just Seth Rollins, The Miz, and Shawn Michaels when he ruthlessly kicked HBK in the face during Miz TV. Finn Bálor has also taken offense to Ziggler’s vicious actions toward the Hall of Famer and will be stepping in the ring with him tonight in an attempt to teach Ziggler some respect.
Dolph Ziggler managed to escape a loss in his match against Seth Rollins last night on Raw; however, it wasn’t due to his own success, but to an attack from The Beast, who decided to take the opportunity to beat Rollins down ahead of their championship match at Summerslam.
As Brock Lesnar isn’t out for Bálor’s head, he won’t be making an appearance to inadvertently save Ziggler, but The Fiend is always lurking, so interference isn’t completely out of the question.
3. The New Day Take On Elias and Drew McIntyre
Last week on SmackDown Live, The New Day (Big E and Xavier Woods) took to the announce table to give their opinions on the various matches and competitors throughout the evening.
Even though Kevin Owens has caused them a fair amount of strife this year, he has recently turned over a new leaf, which seems to be enough to bring Woods and E around to his side. They enthusiastically took Owens’ side in the war against Shane McMahon, which Elias and Drew McIntyre, Shane’s most loyal henchmen, were not too happy to hear.
In an effort to get back at The New Day for their less than flattering words about their leader, Elias and Drew McIntyre will meet them in the ring to put a damper on the power of positivity.
