The August 13 2019 episode of WWE SmackDown Live is taking place later this evening.
The following “quick hits” are advertised to be included in tonight’s show:
1. Roman Reigns Accepts Buddy Murphy’s Challenge
Before Summerslam, Roman Reigns was violently attacked not once, but twice. First, someone pushed a lighting rig on top of him, and when that didn’t take him out, they tried to hit him with a car. Samoa Joe was initially thought to be behind it, but as he was standing right in front of Roman during the second incident, he was soon ruled out.
However, in the footage of Roman and the lighting rig, Buddy Murphy is seen in the background, apparently leaving the scene. Roman saw this and confronted Murphy, savagely rag dolling him around the men’s locker room until Murphy confessed that it wasn’t him, but he did see Rowan when it happened.
In an attempt to get back at Roman Reigns for assaulting him for no reason, Buddy Murphy challenged Roman to a match on SmackDown Live, which Roman accepted.
2. The Feud Between Kofi Kingston and Randy Orton Continues
The Summerslam match between Kofi Kingston and Randy Orton had a less than satisfactory conclusion for both men, as it ended in a double count-out, so neither actually won.
To make matters worse for Orton, Kofi Kingston attacked him with a kendo stick post-match. Orton may have had it coming, as he was staring down Kingston’s family at the time, but chances of The Viper seeing it that way are low.
3. Is Kevin Owens Done With Shane McMahon?
Despite Shane’s best efforts to derail Kevin Owens at Summerslam, and therefore force him from WWE, Owens’ Stunner earned him the victory, as well as continued employment with the company.
As Kevin Owens has now bested Shane O’Mac on multiple occasions, he should be able to move on from The Best in the World, but Shane has never been one to take defeat lying down and will more than likely continue his quest to rid himself of Kevin Owens for good.
4. Bayley Seeks New Challenges
Bayley willingly gave Ember Moon a shot at the SmackDown Live Women’s Championship at Summerslam, and though Ember gave the champ a run for her money, Bayley remained at the top of the women’s division.
Now that Bayley is in need of a new challenger, will she seek one out as she did with Ember Moon, or will a fellow lady of SmackDown step up to the plate without an invitation?
