Opening Segment

John Cena came out to kick off tonight’s show.

Early in his promo, there was a line that hinted at a match with The Undertaker at WrestleMania, which got a lot of fans on Twitter talking.

Cena claimed that if he didn’t win the Chamber match, as well as the right to go on to WrestleMania and face Brock Lesnar for the Universal Championship, then he didn’t know if there was a spot for him on the show this year (as silly as that sounds).

The Miz (along with the Miztourage) came out and said that he was going to win the Chamber match and go on to WrestleMania to conquer The Beast. The two men got into a verbal spat as to who could and couldn’t beat Brock Lesnar, which was filled with witty one-liners and really fun to watch.

Cena challenged Miz to a match, with the loser entering the Chamber match first. Bo Dallas and Curtis Axel attacked Cena, then The Miz accepted the match.

John Cena vs. The Miz

A solid opening contest.

Both men kicked out of each other’s finishers, which should tell you how back-and-forth the contest was.

Cena got the win via Super-AA from the top rope. The Miz will enter the Chamber match first as a result.

Winner: John Cena

“Woken” Matt Hardy Backstage Segment

Backstage, Matt Hardy claimed that he was going to be victorious in tonight’s 4-way match between himself, Finn Bálor, Apollo Crews, and Bray Wyatt. The winner will join the Elimination Chamber match in two weeks.

He claimed that he was going to turn the Elimination Chamber into the “Deletion Chamber,” which I found to be very clever.

The Club Backstage Segment

Backstage, The Club called The Revival “nerds” while a nerd-o-meter appeared on screen and slowly filled up during the promo. I popped for it, personally.

You can watch the promo is in it’s entirety in the tweet above.

The Club vs. The Revival

Before the match, The Revival attacked The Club from behind during their entrance. Great stuff.

These teams are fantastic, hopefully we see more of this in the future.

The Revival got the win via the Shatter Machine, which is the best tag team finisher in the WWE right now.

Winner: The Revival

Kurt Angle In-Ring Segment

In the ring, Kurt Angle updated the WWE Universe on the status of Jason Jordan. Jordan had neck surgery last week and will unfortunately be missing WrestleMania this year. Tough break for Jordan, but I have no doubt he’ll come back and be even better.

Next, Seth Rollins came out and claimed that he wanted to be the guy again. He asked Angle to add him to tonight’s 4-way match so he could have a shot at winning the Chamber match, as well as the right to face Lesnar for the title at ‘Mania.

Kurt then asked the crowd if he should be added to the match, they said yes, so it was made official.

Also, Kurt announced that Ronda Rousey will be signing her Raw contract at the Elimination Chamber pay-per-view. I guess SmackDown Live doesn’t even get a shot at signing the former UFC star… Shame.

Bray Wyatt Backstage Segment

Backstage, Bray Wyatt cut a promo that was eerily similar to the one Matt Hardy cut earlier in the show.

He, too, claimed that he was going to win tonight’s match, now a 5-way, then the Chamber match, and go on to face Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania.

Sasha Banks vs. Bayley

This match was awesome.

The crowd was hot from bell-to-bell, which is no surprise, because San Jose is Bayley’s hometown.

Bayley got the win via the Bayley-to-Belly from the top rope, which is a nice tip of the cap to their previous encounters.

After the match, the two had a stare down, and everyone and their mother thought Sasha was going to turn on Bayley. Before anything could happen, Nia Jax came out of nowhere and laid them both out.

Winner: Bayley

The Bar/The Shield Backstage Segment

Backstage, Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins joked about Rollins trying to sneak his way into the Chamber match. Reigns said that if he does qualify for the match, he would eliminate Rollins just like he did at the Rumble.

The Bar walked up and cracked a few jokes about Rollins’ former partners Dean Ambrose and Jason Jordan both being out with injuries.

Reigns stepped up and told The Bar that they would be dealt with later tonight.

Asuka Video Package

Asuka got a video package, similar to the Royal Rumble “by the numbers” video package, highlighting her WWE career and accomplishments. WWE has done a great job with her so far, which is a pleasant surprise.

This was awesome. Asuka is awesome.

Titus Worldwide Backstage Segment

Backstage, Titus Worldwide hyped up Apollo Crews’ participation in tonight’s 5-way match. The group mocked the other competitors in the match, specifically their catchphrases, which came off a bit cheesy, if I’m being honest.

I do love this collective, however, and I’m glad that it exists.

Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville (w/ Paige) vs. Alexa Bliss and Mickie James

Prior to the match, Alexa Bliss and Mickie James tried to talk out their issues backstage. They couldn’t manage to get on the same page and their inability to do so led to Absolution getting the victory.

Winner: Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville

Elias In-Ring Segment

To call this “segment of the night” is a massive understatement. This was gold.

To start things off, Elias did his typical in-ring-song shtick, which is always fun. Things were going as they normally do, when Braun Strowman appeared on stage, sung a song himself (which was actually kind of good), and then attacked Elias in the ring.

The segment ended with Strowman breaking a giant bass over the back of Elias on the stage. Pure awesomeness.

Finn Bálor Backstage Segment

The fifth and final promo hyping up tonight’s main event.

Like The Club promo from earlier, this segment is available in it’s entirety in the tweet above. Spoiler alert: Finn Bálor can spit some hot bars, yo.

Roman Reigns vs. Sheamus

These two beat the piss out of each other for the entirety of this match, which is no surprise if you’ve ever seen them work one another.

At one point, Reigns went for the Superman punch, but Sheamus caught him in mid air for the White Noise. Fantastic spot.

Sheamus went for a dive from the top rope, but Reigns speared him in midair for the win. Great match.

Winner: Roman Reigns

Elimination Chamber Qualifier

Finn Bálor vs. Apollo Crews vs. “Woken” Matt Hardy vs. Seth Rollins vs. Bray Wyatt

Another good match, which got a “this is awesome” chant towards the end.

There were a lot of spots, so many that the camera missed quite a few. But that’s kind of unavoidable when you have so many guys in one match.

Finn Bálor and Seth Rollins both pinned Bray Wyatt, and the show ended with the two men, as well as the referee, standing in the middle of the ring in confusion.

Winner: ???
