Asuka and Cross Careen Through Arena

This was an exciting week for the women of WWE.  Women’s matches main evented Raw, SmackDown, and NXT, Sasha Banks beat out 5 other competitors to become #1 Contender for the Raw Women’s Title, and Carmella climbed the ladder and won the MITB briefcase for the second time. Although these were great moments, the main event of NXT was easily the best. Asuka narrowly escaped with her title in a Last Woman Standing match against Nikki Cross. This was the first time this type of match occurred on NXT and these ladies set the bar incredibly high. Asuka and Nikki tore each other apart in a violent bout around the arena, using various weapons to inflict maximum damage. This may be the end of the Asuka/Nikki Cross feud, but they certainly went out with a bang.

Strowman Ambushes The Big Dog

WWE is doing a fantastic job of hyping the upcoming bout between Roman Reigns and Braun Strowman at Great Balls of Fire. Saying that Braun has had the upper hand so far is an understatement and he continued this trend when he picked up The Big Dog and threw him into the side of an ambulance that had backed into the arena moments earlier. I think these guys are capable of doing something really cool together and I’m excited to see them pull out all the stops for their sure-to-be brutal pay per view match.

The Saga of The Destroyer vs The Beast Continues

True to his word a couple of weeks ago, Samoa Joe locked in the Coquina Clutch and took down The Beast this week on Raw. This is an excellent matchup, as both Joe and Lesnar are ruthless competitors. Between the promos from Paul Heyman and Samoa Joe, and the vicious attacks every time Samoa Joe and Brock Lesnar (or Samoa Joe and Paul Heyman) are on screen together, this match has a lot of steam; hopefully it lives up to the build when it finally happens at the Great Balls of Fire PPV.

The Champion of the U.S. is Better than the Champion of the Universe

Talking Smack became The Kevin Owens Show this week as The New Face of America brought his A game in disrespect to the talk show. Owens voiced his concerns with the way the SmackDown brand is being run and explained why he is the best champion there is while insulting everyone that came up in conversation, including Renee, Daniel, AJ, and random unseen crew members. Not only is Kevin Owens outstanding in the ring, he is also exceptionally witty and a top-notch trash talker, making him one of the best heels on the main roster.
