The 03/20/19 edition of WWE NXT, out of the Full Sail Arena in Winter Park, Florida, just wrapped up. We’ve got the match results, as well as our overall thoughts on the show, for you to check out below. Let us know what you thought about episode #496 of NXT by tweeting us, @TheRumbleRamble.

Bow Down to the King

Triple H came to the ring with the NXT Championship in hand to kick off the show. He announced that, due to injury, Tommaso Ciampa has relinquished the NXT Championship.

Additionally, there would be a Fatal 5-way later in the evening, the winner of which would go on to face Johnny Gargano, the current number one contender, in a 2-out-of-3 falls match at TakeOver: New York to crown a new champion.

The participants in the Fatal 5-way are Aleister Black, Adam Cole, Velveteen Dream, Matt Riddle, and Ricochet.

An Update on Tommaso Ciampa

Video footage of Tommaso Ciampa pre-neck surgery was shown. Ciampa was seen holding his child before the operation, which was a very real moment that did a good job of humanizing the man behind the character.

This was sad stuff. Best wishes to Tommaso Ciampa; hopefully we’ll see him in a WWE ring again soon.

More Bianca Belair Sass

Bianca Belair sassed both Kairi Sane and Io Shirai backstage. Remember, those three face off against NXT Women’s Champion Shayna Baszler for the title at TakeOver: New York in two weeks.

Fatal 5-Way Main Event

The Full Sail crowd was hot for this match, and for good reason; it was quite good.

The action kicking off rather quickly; it didn’t take long for things to become chaotic. In fact, there was so much going on, it was impossible to keep track of it all, so apologies if we forget to mention anything important.

All five guys took turns going at it one-on-one in the ring, while the others either brawled on the floor or attempted to recover from a big offensive manuever.

Adam Cole got Ricochet in the ring alone and did a good job of keeping other people out, which makes sense and added some fun storytelling to this spot-heavy match.

Matt Riddle and Cole got into a chop-off, which Riddle won, and quickly applied a Bromission. Velveteen Dream broke it up, saving the match for everyone else involved.

We got a huge move exchange that ended with all five guys going down. Loud NXT chants after this bit, which was cool. This was followed up by a massive Tower of Doom spot, which has been done far too many times at this point.

Anytime Riddle and Aleister Black went at it our eyes lit up. We need more of those two together ASAP.

The closing sequence, while a lot to type out, was quite good. Riddle hit a big knee on Dream, then locked in the Bromission, but Cole pulled the referee out of the ring before Dream could tap out. Knee from Riddle on Dream, Bromission locked in, Cole pulls ref out the ring

Riddle then laid out Cole but was then hit with a Black Mass, which looked brutal. Velveteen Dream took out Black with a DVD and went up to the top for the Purple RainMaker.

Ricochet hit a headscissors on Dream, who was still on the top rope, which sent both men to the floor and on top of Black and Cole.

Ricochet hit a Shooting Star Press on Riddle, but Cole broke it up with a Last Shot on Ricochet. He quickly pinned Ricochet after, winning the match and earning the right to face Gargano for the title at TakeOver: New York.

Winner: Adam Cole
