Johnny Gargano Speaks

Johnny Gargano opened the show with an in-ring promo, claiming that he would become champion in 2019 because success in NXT is determined by wins and championships.

Gargano then turned his attention to Tommaso Ciampa. He said that, even though Ciampa helped him in the cage match with Aleister Black a few weeks ago, the two aren’t back together, and Ciampa is still just a piece of trash with a title that he wants.

Next on Gargano’s list was Ricochet. Gargano made his intentions clear: he wants Ricochet’s NXT North American Championship. This drew Ricochet to the ring, who promptly accepted Gargano’s challenge for an NXT North American Championship match at TakeOver: Phoenix.

Tommaso Ciampa decided to join the party, but was quickly interrupted by Aleister Black’s music. Black appeared on the screen and told Ciampa that he hoped he was focused on him and not Gargano because Black was the real threat and would make Ciampa fade to black. The lights went out, and Black attacked Ciampa from behind. Ciampa managed to escape and took off in the direction of the backstage area before any major damage was dealt.

In the ring, Gargano followed Black’s lead and laid out Ricochet, standing tall over the NXT North American Champion to close out the long-but-fun segment.W

Bianca Belair vs. Nikki Cross

Bianca Belair and Nikki Cross had a fantastic match that was an absolute joy to watch. These two are nothing short of great together. Belair and Cross went back-and-forth in a hard-hitting battle that could have gone either way, but Belair’s KOD eventually led to her scoring the pinfall victory over Cross.

Belair, and her un-de-feat-ed streak are heading to TakeOver: Phoenix to face the NXT Women’s Champion, Shayna Baszler.

Winner: Bianca Belair

The European Union Debut

The European Union successfully made their NXT TV debut by absolutely crushing two poor souls in dominating fashion. One of the enhancement guys, who appeared to weigh about 125 pounds, put up a fight and prolonged the match, but ultimately the European Union got the win.

Winner: The European Union

Keith Lee vs. Kassius Ohno Next Week

Keith Lee challenged Kassius Ohno to a match during a backstage interview, to take place next week. Ohno viciously attacked Lee’s good buddy Matt Riddle last week, so obviously Lee is out for revenge.

EC3 vs. Adam Cole (w/ Undisputed Era)

Adam Cole defeated EC3 via the Last Shot, with a little bit of help from the rest of the members of Undisputed Era. The match itself was solid, perhaps even one of the better EC3 matches from his NXT run.

Undisputed Era attempted to lay a beatdown on EC3 after the final bell, but the War Raiders showed up and laid everyone out. Earlier in the show, General Manager William Regal announced that the War Raiders will face Kyle O’Reilly and Roderick Strong for the NXT Tag Team Championships at TakeOver: Phoenix.

Winner: Adam Cole
