Heavy Machinery vs. Riddick Moss & Tino Sabbatelli

Tonight’s show started off with tag team action featuring one of my favorite new teams, Heavy Machinery.

Otis Dozovic and Tucker Knight are two gigantic, strong dudes who mix power and explosion with comedy, which is very hard to pull off. They’re extremely entertaining and they have the chance to be huge (literally and figuratively) in 2018.

The match was very good, perhaps the best match both teams have had yet in their early careers. Moss got the win for his team via a rollup, although he did have his feet on the ropes.

Winner:  Riddick Moss & Tino Sabbatelli

The Undisputed Era Backstage Segment

Backstage, The Undisputed Era cut a promo hyping up NXT TakeOver: Philadelphia.

Adam Cole said he is going to mangle Aleister Black, while Fish and O’Reilly said that it doesn’t matter who they face for the titles, they’re going to retain the championships.

A video package that centered around Aleister Black aired directly after this, furthering the build for the Extreme Rules bout between Black and Cole at TakeOver Philly.

Roderick Strong vs. Fabian Aichner

It appears that Roderick Strong can’t have a bad match, as he has been batting a thousand from the moment he stepped foot in NXT. He got the win over Fabian Aichner, another impressive workhorse that calls NXT home.

Afterward, Strong called out Lars Sullivan. The two appear to be heading toward a match at TakeOver Philly.

TM61 Video Package

Next up was a video package hyping the return of TM61, as well as giving a bit of background information about both Nick Miller and Shane Thorne. NXT always kills it with these, and this time was no different.

We’ll be getting part two next week.

Aliyah vs. Lacey Evans

Evans got the win in a quick but solid match.

After the match, she cut a promo calling out the biggest players in the women’s division. As she was rattling off various names, Shayna Baszler appeared, and Evans disappeared before anything bad happened to her.

Baszler then attempted to choke out Aliyah, who was still lying in the ring, but was cut off by Ember Moon. General Manager William Regal set a match between Moon and Baszler for TakeOver Philly.

Johnny Gargano In-Ring Segment

Backstage, Zelina Vega talks with Regal, and says that Velveteen Dream had some valid points last week.

Gargano responded by walking out to the ring, with no music, and cutting the best promo of his NXT career. He said that he finally knows who he is, he’s Johnny Wrestling, and he’ll take on Velveteen Dream and prove that he belongs in the main event match at TakeOver Philly next week.

The Authors of Pain vs. The Street Profits

Main event time.

The Authors of Pain got the win pretty quickly, for NXT main event standards at least. They’ll be facing Bobby Fish and Kyle O’Reilly for the tag titles at NXT TakeOver Philly.

The Street Profits were undefeated heading into the match, but AOP were just too much for them to handle tonight.

The show ended with Mauro Ranallo promoting TakeOver Philly, which happens a week from Saturday.

Winner: The Authors of Pain
