You may remember that last week’s episode of Raw was in Iowa and therefore billed as being hosted in Seth Rollins’ hometown. Although the Iowa crowd certainly welcomed him as a hometown boy, Raw was held in Des Moines, almost 200 miles from Rollins’ actual hometown of Davenport.
This was close enough, of course, and Rollins more than deserved the overwhelming amount of love he received during Raw, but he couldn’t resist taking it a step further. Seth Rollins made a special appearance at an NXT Live Event held at the River Center in Davenport a few days after his performance on the flagship show.
Rollins was not there to compete, he was simply an NXT fan for the night. However, he did take a minute to celebrate his Universal Championship win with his hometown.
Like many of our favorite WWE Superstars of today, Seth Rollins got his start in the company as a member of the NXT roster, going on to become the first ever NXT Champion.
This made the moment even more special for Rollins, who gave a backstage interview at the show praising the black and gold brand for how far they’ve come and how great it felt to have been an important part of it.
