On top of all of the other exciting matches and segments, this past week of WWE featured the quarter-finals of the 2019 King of the Ring Tournament.
Eight men battled in four intense matches, one of which, Ricochet vs. Samoa Joe, taking such a toll on the competitors that both will be going to the semi-finals, as a victor could not be determined.
This was by far the most dramatic match of the four, but the remaining three were far from uneventful. Cedric Alexander vs. Baron Corbin, Elias vs. Ali, and Chad Gable vs. Andrade all delivered.
Cedric Alexander fought with everything he had, but in the end, Baron Corbin took the win with his End of Days. Despite making it through his match against Kevin Owens by questionable means at best, Elias bested Ali, who had a great amount of momentum going into the match after defeating Buddy Murphy.
And last but not least, Chad Gable got the better of Andrade, even though Zelina Vega was not afraid to use whatever means necessary to give Andrade a leg up.
Next week’s editions of Raw and SmackDown Live will include the two King of the Ring 2019 semi-finals matches. Samoa Joe, Ricochet, and Baron Corbin will compete in a triple threat on Raw, and Elias and Chad Gable will throw down on SmackDown Live.
And we won’t have to wait long at all to find out who will be the 2019 King of the Ring, as the final match will take place just a few days later at Clash of Champions.
