Roman Reigns vs. Seth Rollins Kicks Off The Draft

To determine which brand would receive the first pick of the 2019 WWE Draft, Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns stepped into the ring one-on-one with Roman representing SmackDown and Seth representing Raw.

Both men struggled to gain supremacy, as they are well acquainted with each other’s moves and strategies. But ultimately, this wouldn’t matter, as The Fiend had other plans for their match.

Appearing through the ring mat, The Fiend snatched Seth Rollins by the throat and dragged him to hell (through the ring). Smoke rolled from the opening through which The Fiend had appeared, and though Seth Rollins eventually escaped, he looked extremely shaken. The match, therefore, ended in disqualification in Rollins’ favor, giving Raw the first pick in the draft.

The OC Battle The New Day

In their final match on SmackDown, as they were drafted to Raw in the first round, The OC challenged The New Day in the hopes of going out with a bang.

Though The OC did have an impressive showing, as they do any time they compete, The New Day were the ones to emerge victorious when Kofi Kingston slammed AJ Styles with a Trouble in Paradise.

The New Day are not eligible to be drafted until Monday Night Raw, but they certainly reminded both networks of their worth in this match.

Chad Gable and Baron Corbin Compete in a Rematch

The last match between Chad Gable and Baron Corbin ended with Chad Gable on top, but King Corbin did not appreciate being embarrassed in front of his subjects and attacked Gable backstage as he discussed his match.

But Chad Gable is a fighter, and couldn’t let this assault go un-repaid, so the two went head to head again on SmackDown. Gable gave Corbin everything he had, but in the end, and End of Days would be his demise.

Though Gable lost this match, we are certain that this will not be the end of Gable’s quest for greatness.

Bayley Turns Bad

In a Hell in a Cell rematch, Bayley took on The Queen in an effort to regain the SmackDown Women’s Championship. But before making her way to the ring, Bayley unveiled a brand new look and attitude.

Dressed in muted colors and sans side ponytail, Bayley produced a harpoon and ravaged her signature Bayley Buddies, the wavy inflatable tube men that accompany her entrance. After marching to the ring in silence, Bayley went to war with Charlotte, determined not to lose again.

Charlotte came close to victory more than once, and the end of the match seemed clear when Bayley stopped paying attention to her opponent in order to argue with the referee, but by reversing Charlotte’s submission into a pin, Bayley took the SmackDown Women’s Championship for herself.

After winning the match, Bayley said “screw you” to the audience and left to the tune of her new, darker music.

The First Half of The Draft Picks Are Made

The first half of the 2019 WWE Draft was every bit as nerdy and in-depth as we hoped it would be. Complete with war rooms, mid-draft press coverage, and a robot named Cletus rooting for team SmackDown, the draft was a blast to watch from start to finish.

And we will get even more excitement in the second half on Raw.
