Lio Rush Challenges Drew Gulak for the Cruiserweight Championship
In the opening match of NXT, Lio Rush challenged Drew Gulak for the NXT Cruiserweight Championship. Lio Rush just recently returned to TV from hiatus but wasted no time in going after the gold.
Drew Gulak fought hard to keep his Cruiserweight Championship, but a Stunner and a Final Hour after an intense match was enough to put the champ away and make Lio Rush the new face of the Cruiserweight division.
William Regal came to the ring to crown the new champion, but Drew Gulak wasn’t having it. Instead of attacking Rush, however, Drew handed him the title himself, shaking hands with the man who defeated him before leaving the ring.
The Forgotten Sons Take On Breezango
This match was originally set to be Breezango vs Ever-Rise, but The Forgotten Sons wanted a contest for themselves and decided they didn’t want to wait for it. Jaxson Ryker appeared on the stage before the match, dragging both members of Ever-Rise behind him, silently challenging Breezango.
Fandango has been hard at work regaining his footing in NXT since returning from injury, and though he and Tyler Breeze lost this match, The Forgotten Sons were forced to pull out all of their tricks to make that happen.
Roderick Strong Battles Isaiah “Swerve” Scott
Though Isaiah “Swerve” Scott hasn’t had the best of luck in his matches since debuting in WWE, he has demonstrated his talent again and again, and never loses a match without putting up an intense fight.
The North American Championship wasn’t on the line for this match, but that didn’t stop Strong and Scott from taking each other to the limit.
Roderick Strong slowly became more and more frustrated as he realized that Swerve wasn’t going to provide the easy win he was hoping for, and it took literally everything he had to bring down his competitor, but with an End of Heartache followed immediately by a Strong Hold, Strong secured the victory.

Tommaso Ciampa and Velveteen Dream Have Words with The Champ
Adam Cole and his Undisputed pals stood in the ring, running down each and every man who has stepped up to them in the recent past. But when they got to Velveteen Dream, the icon of NXT interrupted, more than prepared to verbally spar with the Era.
Velveteen Dream came out on top of this verbal altercation, showing a rather unflattering image of Roderick Strong on the big screen, but that wasn’t the end of Undisputed’s problems.
After Velveteen was finished with Cole and his cohorts, Tommaso Ciampa made his entrance. The Undisputed Era made a run for it, particularly because Ciampa was armed with the crutch he has routinely used as a weapon, but Ciampa appeared to have no intentions of getting physical.
He merely pulled up a chair in the ring and addressed his precious goldie, now in the hands of Adam Cole, informing it that he was home, and coming for it soon.
Kushida Goes to War Against WALTER
To wrap up another stellar episode of NXT, WALTER and Kushida had one of our favorite matches of the year – for no other reason than to compete for superiority.
To raise the stakes even higher, WALTER and Kushida both went into the match undefeated, giving the winner the ultimate bragging rights. Although WALTER had a clear size and strength advantage, and used this to the fullest in this match, Kushida never gave up the fight, right to the very end.
WALTER’s devastating moveset was eventually too much for Kushida to overcome, but even though Kushida is no longer undefeated, he has very much proven that he can go toe-to-toe with the toughest competitors WWE has to offer.
