This was quite possibly the best women’s match to take place in an NXT ring since Sasha Banks faced off against Bayley at NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn almost two years ago. On top of that, this bout was one of the most physical and violent brawls to occur in a WWE ring this year.

Money in the Bank Ladder Match

Money in the Bank 2017

In multi-man ladder matches, storytelling often takes a backseat to high flying stunts. That wasn’t the case for this bout, as the stories these six men told, particularly those by Baron Corbin and Shinsuke Nakamura, were just as entertaining as the death-defying leaps from the ladders.

Dean Ambrose vs. AJ Styles

SmackDown Live #911

SmackDown Live has been one of the best things going in WWE since the brand split last July, and matches like this one are a huge part of why fans can’t stop raving about the blue brand.

NXT TakeOver: Chicago

Best WWE Matches of 2017 - AOP vs. DIY

Jaw-dropping stunts, exceptional storytelling, and a memorable ending landed this match the number seven spot. Most people remember what happened after this bout was over, but what occurred between the bells made for awesome television, too.

WWE Championship Elimination Chamber Match

Elimination Chamber 2017

WWE debuted a new and improved Elimination Chamber this year and it, like this match, was awesome. The new Chamber allowed for more creative freedom, which led to some cool and innovative spots. This is also the best Bray Wyatt has ever looked in a WWE ring, so if you’re a fan of The Eater of Worlds, this match is a must-see.

Tyler Bate vs. Pete Dunne

United Kingdom Championship Match

United Kingdom Championship Tournament

This match set the wrestling world on fire and made both Tyler Bate and Pete Dunne Superstars in WWE. The craziest thing about this bout? It’s absolutely fantastic and it’s not even the best match these two men have had against each other this year.

Universal Championship No Disqualification Match

Royal Rumble 2017

Best Matches of 2017 - Kevin Owens vs. Roman Reigns

Kevin Owens had a death wish the night of the 2017 Royal Rumble pay-per-view, and Roman Reigns did everything he could to make that wish come true. One of the best, and most violent, WWE matches of 2017.

NXT Tag Team Championship Match

NXT TakeOver: Orlando

This match was truly the ultimate thrill ride, as it stole the show during WrestleMania weekend this year. I can’t imagine another tag match taking place this year that will top it, but I’d love to be wrong.

AJ Styles (c) vs. John Cena

WWE Championship Match

Royal Rumble 2017

Though not quite at the top of the best WWE matches of 2017, John Cena/AJ Styles feud is one of the best rivalries to occur in a WWE ring in years. People fantasized about the matchup for over a decade and when it finally came to fruition, it did not disappoint. This match wasn’t the first time Cena and Styles did battle, but it was the best of their encounters, in my opinion.

Tyler Bate (c) vs. Pete Dunne

United Kingdom Championship Match

NXT TakeOver: Chicago

Best WWE Matches of 2017 - Tyler Bate vs. Pete Dunne

This match stole the show, the weekend, and the entire year. I truly believe the only match that could top it in 2017 is another Tyler Bate/Pete Dunne classic at an NXT TakeOver event. If that happens, and I think it’s possible, this is easily my Feud of the Year for 2017.
