As a result of an attack at the hands of Lars Sullivan, Jeff Hardy suffered a knee injury, forcing him and his tag partner, Matt Hardy, to relinquish their newly acquired SmackDown Live Tag Team Championships.
In an article recently published by WWE, the following teams were given as candidates for tag champions:
- Heavy Machinery (Otis & Tucker)
- The New Day (Kofi Kingston & Xavier Woods)
- Shinsuke Nakamura & Rusev
- Shane McMahon & Elias
- The B-Team (Bo Dallas & Curtis Axel)
- Finn Bálor & Ali
Shane McMahon has been given the task of appointing the next SmackDown Live Tag Team Champions and will do so tomorrow night on SmackDown Live.
It seems rather suspicious that Shane O’Mac, himself, is apparently in the running for tag champion with his new friend, Elias. The temptation to name himself champion is undoubtedly strong, but we won’t know his decision for sure until Tuesday night.
This Tuesday on #SDLive, @shanemcmahon will crown the NEW #SmackDown #TagTeamChampions! https://t.co/LHxbXzZ0GN— WWE (@WWE) May 4, 2019
