NXT UK TakeOver Cardiff will be taking place Saturday, August 31st, 2019 in the Motorpoint Arena Cardiff in Cardiff, Wales.
Though the show is still several weeks away, some of the TakeOver Cardiff match card has already been announced and stands as follows:
Toni Storm (c) vs. Kay Lee Ray
NXT UK Women’s Championship Match

Toni Storm has proven herself a fighting champion ever since winning the NXT UK Women’s Championship at NXT UK TakeOver Blackpool by defeating the then-champion Rhea Ripley.
And even before she became champion, she displayed her incredible in-ring talents again and again through the Mae Young Classic and Evolution events, as well as various television matches.
Being the respectable champion that she is, Toni shouted out several of her former opponents but neglected to include Kay Lee Ray, who took a great amount of offense at this. Determined to show Toni Storm exactly how wrong she was for overlooking her, Ray beat out eleven other women in the first-ever NXT UK Women’s Battle Royal to secure a match against Storm at a later date.
And to make the largest impact possible, Kay Lee Ray chose to have her championship match at TakeOver Cardiff, promising to make life difficult for Storm until then.
WALTER (c) vs. Tyler Bate
NXT UK Championship Match

WALTER has been bulldozing his way through NXT UK ever since he took his first menacing step through the door. The Austrian powerhouse wasted no time going straight to the top, making challenging Pete Dunne for the NXT Championship his first act as an official member of the NXT UK roster.
WALTER captured the championship from Pete Dunne shortly afterward at NXT TakeOver: New York, ending Dunne’s historic, nearly two-year, reign. No one has been able to touch him since, so who better to step up to the plate than the original NXT UK Champion, Tyler Bate?
Bate’s decision to challenge WALTER at TakeOver makes even more sense considering that WALTER and his Imperium henchmen, Marcel Barthel, Fabian Aichner, and Alexander Wolfe, have recently made Moustache Mountain something of a target.
Refusing to take the abuse lying down, Tyler Bate attacked Imperium on behalf of himself and his tag team partner, Trent Seven, vowing to get revenge once and for all at TakeOver Cardiff.
