Velveteen Dream Promo

Velveteen Dream kicked off the show with a highly eccentric, yet awesome promo about Johnny Gargano. The Dream said that he is going to take Gargano’s spot tonight; he’s going to be the one facing Andrade “Cien” Almas at NXT TakeOver Philly for the title.

No Way Jose vs. Cezar Bononi

Our opening contest featured No Way Jose facing off with Cezar Bononi. Bononi has a very cool entrance theme, along with an impressive physique.

Jose got the win with the Fastball Punch in a quick but fun match.

Winner: No Way Jose

Aleister Black/Adam Cole Video Package

Up next was a video package highlighting the Adam Cole//Aleister Black feud. Their Extreme Rules Match on Saturday at TakeOver Philly should be a classic.

Bianca Belair vs. Latoya?

Bianca Belair is strong as hell. She used her power throughout this match (along with her hair) to punish her opponent.

Belair got the win via the Alley Oop.

Winner: Bianca Belair

Ember Moon and Shayna Baszler Face-Off

Shayna Baszler and Ember Moon had a sit-down, face-to-face interaction mediated by Percy Watson.

Things quickly got personal, Baszler claimed that she didn’t need to tell everyone her backstory, or talk about how hard she’s worked to get here, like Moon does.

Baszler got the last word before walking off set. There was zero physicality between the two, which was a nice touch to add tension.

TM61 Video Package

Part two of TM61’s video package aired, further establishing how incredibly likable these two guys are. I have no idea where these video packages were when TM61 first showed up in NXT, but better late than never, I suppose.

At the end of the package, it was announced that Shane Thorne and Nick Miller will return to in-ring action NEXT WEEK!

The Authors of Pain In-Ring Segment

Initially, this appeared to be a tag team match between the AOP and two local performers. The AOP destroyed both men before the match could even begin, and then got on the sticks and let The Undisputed Era know that they were next.

Johnny Gargano vs. The Velveteen Dream

Yet another fantastic main event bout on NXT.

Gargano and Velveteen Dream battled it out for the majority of the match, with things spilling out to the floor early and often.

Velveteen Dream is already surprisingly good, and he’s only 22 years old, so the sky is the limit with him.

Gargano got the win via the Gargano Escape in an epic, must-see match.

Afterwards, Andrade “Cien” Almas made his way down to the ring and laid out Gargano, all while wearing a beautiful suit. Gargano refused to stay down though, and laid Almas out in retaliation.

The show ended with Gargano standing tall, holding the NXT Championship above his head.

Winner: Johnny Gargano
