Before SmackDown Live yesterday, Shane McMahon announced that he would be choosing the new Tag Team Champions at some point during the show.

As promised, Shane O’Mac came to the ring to give his decision, saying that he thought long and hard about who deserved the position, and after careful consideration, the answer was clear. Former WWE Champion, Daniel Bryan, and his protect, Rowan, were obviously the best choice.

Bryan and Rowan proudly (verging on pompously) made their way down to the ring to accept their new titles, but as they reached for them, another team emerged from backstage to oppose this decision.

The Usos, one of the most decorated tag teams on any current WWE roster, appeared on stage, voicing their disapproval in Shane’s choice of simply giving the titles away rather than holding a contest to determine which team was worthy of becoming champions.

Though thinly disguising his annoyance at The Usos’ interruption, Shane McMahon conceded that it was a decent idea, declaring that his pick of champions, Daniel Bryan and Rowan, would earn the right to the titles in a match against The Usos.

The Usos put up a valiant effort but ultimately lost to Daniel Bryan and Rowan, who almost immediately launched into a discussion about fixing those disgusting leather straps.

The Planet’s Tag Team Champions, Bryan and Rowan, have been on top for less than a day, but have already given quite a list of things they aim to accomplish as champs (after some celebratory vegan food, of course):

  • Tag Team Evolution
  • Tag Team Match to Main Event WrestleMania
  • New & Improved Titles (No Leather)
  • No More Jokes in the Tag Division
