For the past five years, Big E, Xavier Woods, and Kofi Kingston have worked together as one in one of the most successful, popular tag teams of the modern era: The New Day.

The three best friends have often said, both in character and out, that they would do absolutely anything for each other, that any triumphs or trials experienced by one are shared by all.

This was put to the test last night on SmackDown Live, when Vince McMahon set yet another roadblock between Kofi Kingston and his WWE Championship Match at WrestleMania.

Kofi Kingston has had to “prove himself” to The Chairman multiple times, but this time he would have to sit back and allow his brothers to go to war for him instead. If Big E and Xavier Woods were able to defeat every team placed against them in a Gauntlet Match, Vince would have no choice but to allow Kofi Kingston to have his match, as WrestleMania is less than two weeks away.

Big E and Xavier Woods fought valiantly against The Club, Rusev & Shinsuke Nakamura, and The Bar. Their final opponents were supposed to be The Usos, but when Jimmy and Jey arrived in the ring, they announced that they could never stand in The New Day’s way, as no one deserved a WrestleMania moment more than Kofi Kingston.

In a touching interaction between two all-time great tag teams, The Usos forfeit the match, and we all celebrated as The New Day assumed they were victorious – for a moment.

Daniel Bryan and Rowan simply couldn’t stand to see a “B+ Player” like Kofi Kingston be given an opportunity to put Bryan’s status as Planet’s Champion in jeopardy, so Big E and Xavier Woods were forced to compete in one final match, this time against the champ and his protector.

Big E and Xavier Woods were already bruised and battered from the previous three matches, making this task even more difficult. They refused to let their brother down, however, and pulled through, defeating Bryan and Rowan, officially scoring Kofi Kingston his WrestleMania match.

The bell had barely stopped ringing when Kofi Kingston charged down to the ring, overcome with elation at Big E and Woods’ victory. All three men held each other in an emotional embrace, and just when we thought it couldn’t get any better, the entire SmackDown Live roster made their way down the ramp, some of them literally jumping with excitement.

We are not exaggerating when we tell you that we nearly cried watching the scene unfold. The amount of love that instantly poured from fans and peers alike was overwhelming; we can only imagine the feeling was tenfold in the hearts of The New Day.
