The Kurt Angle retirement tour is taking a bit of a detour tomorrow night on SmackDown Live. It appeared Angle’s final few matches would take place exclusively on Raw, but the gold medalist will be visiting the blue brand to take on AJ Styles.
This will be the first match between the two since their 2013 feud in TNA, and the first ever to take place in a WWE ring.
So far, Angle has competed against Apollo Crews and Chad Gable, both of whom spoke of their childhood hero in glowing terms, extremely pleased to have been given such an opportunity.
Though Kurt Angle was probably not Styles’ childhood hero (they are less than a decade apart in age), they are old rivals and wanted one last chance to prove who’s best.
