In 2014, WWE launched a streaming service they dubbed the “WWE Network.” Since then, thousands upon thousands of hours of content from WWE, WCW, and ECW have been uploaded, providing endless enjoyment for it’s nearly 2 million subscribers.
On top of the weekly content and pay-per-views from all of these promotions, WWE periodically releases Network Exclusives, including spotlight Chronicles on various Superstars such as Roman Reigns and Ali, behind the scenes footage, and special events like the Cruiserweight and Mae Young Classic tournaments.
The only downside to this service was that it wasn’t laid out particularly well. Specific content was relatively difficult to find, not to mention it wasn’t the most aesthetically appealing website/app, especially in 2019, when everything is shifting in an even more modern, streamlined direction.
Partially because they were aware that their streaming service wasn’t quite up to par, partially because it ran on flash for the last 5 years, which will no longer be available after this year, WWE made an effort to update it.
With a totally new company behind them, WWE unveiled the second iteration of the WWE Network last week and to say that they made some upgrades would be an understatement.
The service has a brand new everything, including a new (much better) search feature and organization of the shows, as well as additional features such as a ‘skip to the next match’ option and ‘favorite superstars’ which gives you a picture, stats, and a list of every time they’re featured on the Network.
There have been a few bumps in the road, as there is with any new service or website, but overall, it’s an extremely positive, much-needed change that has many subscribers, us included, very excited about the future of the WWE Network.
