After capturing the NXT Women’s Championship at TakeOver: Dallas, Asuka’s first title match was also the first time she appeared to be the underdog. Nia Jax was certainly a formidable opponent, but Asuka came out looking stronger than ever.

The Empress of Tomorrow pulled no punches in her debut match against Dana Brooke. She showed the WWE Universe what she was about from the moment she stepped into the ring and took out both Dana and an interfering Emma at ringside.

Along with being one of the best Asuka matches, this will always be known as the beginning of The Empress’ legendary title run. She, along with Bayley, tore the house down the night before Wrestlemania 32 in Dallas.

Bayley was no doubt the most beloved NXT Superstar and champion at the time, but Asuka proved that she was more than worthy to be her successor.

The idea that Asuka had bulldozed through so many of the women in the division that they had to bring in someone new was an excellent idea that not only made Asuka look unconquerable but clearly opened the door for a rekindled WWE career for Mickie James.

In a perfect mix of personalities, these three women fought viciously for the championship in this TakeOver match. One of my personal favorite matches on this list, this one is high-impact, high-energy, and just all-around fun to watch.

Who better than Asuka to partner with Bayley in her last dance in an NXT ring. Asuka walked away with the title once again, continuing her reign over the NXT women’s division, and Bayley left with her head held high, ready for new challenges on the main roster.

Again taking down Emma and Dana, but with Emma being the main target this time, Asuka overcame all the heel antics they could throw at her to retain her championship in front of an ecstatic London crowd.

This match was awesome. The first of its kind in NXT, this last woman standing match was the perfect setting for both Asuka and Nikki to show off the fearlessness and aggression that marks their unique styles.

NXT Women’s Championship Match

Both Ember and Asuka are top-notch wrestlers, so it’s no surprise that this was not only one of the best Asuka matches but one of Ember’s best performances as well.

Not only did they give it their all individually, but they also brought out the best in each other while creating a compelling story.

The entire feud between Asuka and Ember was fantastic, but this final showdown was the best part by far. They proved that their first TakeOver match was only a warm-up, as this featured even fiercer competition between the two.

It was later revealed that Asuka was injured and would, therefore, have to relinquish the title, making this her last match in NXT, but we couldn’t think of a better way for her to go out.
